Blog 2 Summer Mentorship Component

Log of specific hours and duties

The full ten hours were at Brothers Precision Machine Shop located in El Monte.
I personally was able to work in the secretary's office to organize paper work that was needed and I was able to observe & learn how a self runned business worked, which is the area that I looked into for my senior component (Business Management).
I Learned the basics of how a personal manger runs a business, with workers salaries, and requiring the specific working machines to get the product needed done etc. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvrouDXCh9b4dEVZTzh6WXdHX3d4bXdrMFM3VW5FN1E#gid=0

What questions were raised because of the ten hours of experience?

Is this really what I want to deepen my research in?

Will this be enough to work on in my senior component?

Why is working with your personal workers so difficult?

What I gained from this experience?

What I learned from this experience is that it is not to easy to run a business by yourself, you need at least a partner that is also willing to run it with you. It is also hard to work with your own personal workers. As well as organizing the workers salaries and organizing & assigning the specific jobs that need to be completed. I also gained knowledge that I will not like to be a worker working with machines to require getting the metal products done for the order. I'd rather love to be the manager and organizer of everything.

How did it help me choose my topic?

This helped me choose my topic because it helped me learn and experience a new area and made me realize whether I liked it or not which lead me to choosing my topic.
